Principal's News: June 20, 2017

It is hard to believe that the end of the year is now here. I want to thank all of the Walteria parents/guardians and the teachers who made this year an incredible year for our young Wildcats. Our collective efforts make it possible for our students to engage in many enriching learning opportunities.

As we move into the summer and get things ready for the 2017-2018 school year, think about taking a volunteer opportunity with us. Because we know that everyone's availability differs, we will be creating a volunteer pamphlet that will outline the duties and time commitments that each volunteer position requires. There are many opportunities, and each one has its own rewards. Here is just a short list:

  • Parent Teacher Association (PTA) volunteer/member
  • PTA has a number of different volunteer opportunities- its not just meetings.
  • Walteria Academic Alliance (WAA) volunteer/member
  • WAA also has a variety of volunteer opportunities
  • Classroom Parent
  • Library volunteer
  • Valet Line Coordinator/member
  • School Site Council Representative
  • ELMAC Representative

This is only a short list of the parents and guardians who help us out on a day to day basis. Some commit many hours, while others commit just a few. They are all appreciated and the tasks that they perform or activities that they lead are very much appreciated by the staff and enjoyed by our students.

Think about joining one of these groups in the fall, it will be worth your time!

Enjoy the summer and see you in the fall,
Dr. Ponce
